Event 8 – Grommets Go for BIG WAVES at WAHU
Sunday, 5 February 2012: The predicted swell finally came and hit North Wollongong and New South Wales’ best grommets, for the eight and final event in the Wahu Surfer Groms Comps mammoth series.
The early morning swell proved a challenge for the younger competitors as consistent sets dished out solid waves for finals day, but the blue ribbon under 15 boys relished in the rise in swell.
Heading into the final undefeated, Jackson Giles (Maroubra) and Jarod Szele (Warilla) were determined from the beginning of the event to take the win, but Luke Wrice (Coledale) and Jamie Krups (North Curl Curl), had other plans.

Event 7 – Wahu Surfer Grom Comp Goes Off After Massive Weekend of Junior Surfing
(Middleton, Sunday, January 22 2012): The 2012 edition of the Wahu Surfer Groms Comp has concluded today at Middleton Beach in South Australia in fun, cross shore, 0.5 metre waves.
Day one of the Wahu Surfer Groms Comp was held on Saturday at Moana Beach where some smaller, clean waves catered well for the Under 9 and Under 11 age divisions. Day two saw the Under 13 and Under 15 groms move to Middleton for bigger, more challenging waves. Both days provided plenty of hot sunshine for parents and kids to continue Slip, Slop, Slapping throughout.

Event 6 – Champions Crowned At Sunshine Coast Wahu Surfer Groms Comp!
Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Wednesday, 11th January 2012: CHAMPIONS were crowned today at the Wahu Surfer Groms Comp – Sunshine Coast, with competitors from U/9 to U/15 revelling in excellent 1.0m conditions at Coolum Beach (Qld).
Snapper Rocks Surfrider Sheldon Simkus stole the show, taking out the blue ribbon U/15 Boys division after posting a combined two-wave heat total of 11.60 (out of a possible 20) points to defeat Connor Lyons (Castaways Beach, Qld – 9.94), Napias Elliot (Tahiti – 7.20) and Aaron Kelly (Sunshine Beach, Qld – 5.83) who finished second to fourth respectively.

Event 5 – Winning Wahu Surfers Crowned in Cronulla
Sunday, 18 December 2011: Winning Wahu Surfers Crowned in Cronulla
Perfect conditions for the perfect groms event as the Wahu Surfer Groms Comp wraps up in Cronulla showcasing Australia’s best grommets in event 5 of the popular National series.
After a huge swell hit Eleoura for the micro groms on day 1, today’s drop in swell was welcomed and attacked with precision and confidence, producing crowd pleasing surfing across all of the eight divisions.

Event 4 – Wahu Surfer Groms Champions Crowned on the Gold Coast
Gold Coast, Queensland, Sunday, 11th December 2011: IT was all systems go on day-two of the Wahu Surfer Groms Comp – Gold Coast, with champions crowned across all divisions in pumping 1.0m conditions at Palm Beach (Qld).
Snapper Rocks Surfrider Keanu Miller (Tweed Heads, NSW) added another feather to his cap today, taking out the U/11 Boys division.
