Shaping The Future Of Young Australian Surfers

Throughout the 2015/16 summer, and in partnership with Surfing Australia, Wahu has been working directly with Australia's best and brightest on the surfing scene. Holding a series of surf comps and two surf camps, we have been amazed at the calibre of talent young Aussie groms have to offer!

Wahu Surf Comps

The Wahu Surfer Groms Comps are "regarded as one of the major stepping stones in the development of young Australian surfers."  Comprised of 10 events, there are divisions ranging from under 8 to under 14. Groms converge on beaches all around Australia during summer to compete. Many of Australia's up and coming junior surfers start as Wahu Groms, with the 10 events in total drawing around 800 competitors.

Wahu Surf Camps

Every year, 20 winners from the Surfer Groms Comps enjoy an all-expenses paid training program at the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC). This March, 10 boys and 10 girls were put through their paces with activies that included intensive surfing and video analysis, strength training, gymnastics and learning various competition strategies.
